Restaurant Vuk (like the street in which is located) is bearing that name in the glory of great Serbian philologist and language reformer - Vuk Karadžić born at the end of 18. century who, helped by Grimm brothers and the others, reformed Serbian orthography and spelling making by that big cut between former slav-serbian culture and new standards.
Vuk Stefanović Karadžić, what is his full name, beside his biggest contribution in the field of literature gave very important contribution to Serbian anthropology combined with ethnography of that time. Beside ethnographic observations he left many others among which are very interesting parts about nutrition, ways of residing, hygiene etc..
Today, as well as in last thirty years, we - personnel & management of restaurant Vuk, are trying by bearing the name of that outstanding figure and trough the traditional approach to cookery, quality work and famous Serbian hospitality to give our contribution to preservation and promotion of Serbian ethnographic treasure and identity.
We entertained, throughout this thirty years, many foreign as well as domestic respectable guests to whom we offered, according to their testifies, one different, prettier point of view on Serbia, Belgrade and our cuisine of course, which presents a hugh satisfaction to us and proof of succeed in our intentions
